Frequent Asked Questions

  • How long do they last?

Mink eyelashes are made of 100% minks fur. Semi-permanent eyelash is made from synthetic micro-polyester fiber, which is identical to human hair. They both last anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks depending on the life cycle of your own natural eyelashes as well the natural PH of your skin type. The dryer your skin is the longer they will last, yet the oilier your skin type the shorter the life span of your extensions. Though the average cycle of a single lash is about 90-120 days, factors such as your eyelash characteristics, lifestyle and general care of your eyelashes will affect how long your Minky's will last. When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not make your natural eyelashes fall out.

  • What glue do the technicians use?

JB Lash MEGA glue contains rubber to give lashes flexibility. Our glue is also oil base, in which OIL SHOULD BE AVOIDED! The key active ingredient in the glue we use is Nano-Peptide Complex. There is no formaldehyde which makes JB MEGA glue the purest ingredient in the market and it has no fumes and is odorless.

  • Do you do fills refills on top of other peoples work?

Most professional Lash artist do not do refills on top of other peoples work at all, and after 13 years experience neither do I. It states this on our website. If i apply a refill to a set of eyelash extensions that were incorrectly placed, it could damage your natural eyelashes more. It is also a hazard when different techniques and adhesives are used incorrectly. It also affects the retention and makes the lashes fall out faster when a refill is done on top of an incorrect job. So i have to take the necessary precaution to protect myself by starting every client with a fresh clean set of eyelash extensions or a proper consultation to see if i would consider even doing a fill.. I will gladly offer a refill if the original set was done through somebody that I know or who was trained within the Minkys network, (the company for which I train for). I offered a consultation to examine the work done to see if it is a job I can do. This is our policy, and we are open to offer you a consultation.

Do's and Don'ts
Do's
• Use Johnson's baby shampoo to wash around your eyes and your face with.
• Leave your eyelashes dormant and avoid water for the first 48 hours. Eyelash extensions are water-resistant, not waterproof.
• Stay away from oil- oil based products, creams, moisturizers and anything with oil in it. Rice papers are good to use to eliminate oil around your eye area.
• Its ok to curl your eyelashes and it is also ok to use a heated eyelash curler at low heat.
• Its ok to go swimming! If you decide to go swimming, make sure that you spray your eyelashes afterward with bottled/ no-chlorinated water, which prevents the adhesive from falling off.
Don'ts
• Do NOT place your lashes directly in heat's way.
• Do NOT use oil based eye make-up remover.
• Do NOT use heavy eye cream or oils near eyelash extensions.
• Do NOT use waterproof Mascara.
• Do NOT use cotton on the lashes.
• Do NOT Rub your eyes extensively.

Hazard and Warning Signs
If you have sensitive eyes, you may want to consult with your doctor to determine if you can apply minky's eyelash extensions to your eyes.
If you have sensitive eye's we will offer a Patch Test.

Patch test
A skin test that is done to identify allergens. A suspected substance is applied to the skin. After 24-48 hours, if the area is red and swollen, the test is positive for that substance. If no reaction occurs, another substance is applied. This is continued until the patient experiences an allergic reaction where the irritant was applied to the skin.

For super sensitive eyes, please notify us to make an appointment the day prior to your appointment if you would like to take the Patch Test.
